Over the past week I have been trying out a very unique caffeinated product. The product is called Cool Octane Shower Gel. It is a shower gel infused with mint and caffeine that can be used as shampoo or body wash. I have had the chance to really put it to the test, let's see how it did.
The Look: Cool Octane comes in a 6 oz plastic container with a white push top. All you have to do to open it is press on the top and the other side opens up. On the front they have the product name as well as a diagram of a cup of coffee, stating it provides a caffeine boost. On the side of the package there is a see through gauge that allows you to see how much gel that you have used. They even have little markings with the sayings: Full, Order Some More, and Empty. Also on the package is an ingredient list and directions. I kind of got a bit of a laugh at the warning label on the package:
"Savor the smell of freshly brewed green tea? Green Tea Gel has a wonderfully addictive fragrance, but please don't drink it"
Sadly the only reason I laugh is because you know some one has tried it.....

Smell: Yeah I know usually taste goes here but I read the warning label so I wasn't about to try and drink the stuff. The fragrance to this is very clean smelling with a light hint of mint to it. I don't really think it smells good enough to drink as per the caution label but I guess that is all a matter of opinion. Either way Cool Octane smelled good and left my hair and body smelling good afterwards.
Does It Work: I made sure when I tested this out each time that I had consumed no other caffeine prior. The directions say to apply to hair and body and wait 15 to 30 seconds before rinsing it off. So I lathered up and sat there staring at the ceiling and twiddling my thumbs to give the caffeine time to enter through the skin.
First let's talk about how Cool Octane worked as a shower gel. When I used it as a shampoo, the mint left my hair with a very nice cooling feeling that was pleasant. I have oily hair and it managed to leave my hair nice and clean. As a body wash I also enjoyed Cool Octane as well, it served it's purpose in that department.
Now on to the issue of whether or not the caffeine actually was felt. Surprisingly enough, the answer is yes. After allowing the gel to sit on my hair and body for about 30 second or so I actually began to feel more awake and alert. I was actually surprised that this managed to give me a little jump start like it. Don't think this will wake you up like coffee or an energy drink, because it will not. However I can definitely say that I noticed the caffeine and was kind of impressed.

Overall Thoughts: I am not going to lie, I was very skeptical of whether or not I would be able to notice the caffeine in this product. Luckily Cool Octane does what it promises and delivers a slight boost as well as an awesome shower gel all in one product. Like I mentioned earlier, I don't see this replacing your morning energy drink or coffee but it will give you an extra boost in the morning.

I know first hand of someone who reviewed this... So when I was in the shower oneday I decided to try it. If it was a little less minty/manly I think I would of gave it a bigger shot. Yet since we were on our way out hmm that's all I needed is for
Mr. Caffeineaholic to notice I smelled like him. LOL
I would suggest maybe a cherry or berry for the ladies.
I'd say does it work: yes
