Ubermonster

Even though I get to try 100s of energy products a year, I still get excited like a little kid when one of the big boys in the energy drink world come out with a new product.  Monster has recently released a "bio-activated energy brew" that actually uses the same technology used to brew beer.  Luckily for me I was able to find one of these on the shelf and get it a try.

The Look:  As well all know Monster is known for some amazing packaging and this bottle is no exception.  Ubermonster comes in a 16.9 ounce glass bottle that look amazing.  There is a great amount of detail in everything from the metal pry off cap, to the green tinted bottle, to the labels.  The color scheme is done in a black, gold, silver, and green theme.  The color scheme looks amazing and almost make the bottle look like a bottle of alcohol (they even added the words "non-alcoholic" to the bottom of the bottle).  On the back you get the usual Monster Energy passage about the new drink and supplemental facts.
I wish Monster would include the caffeine content on the package but this bottle is so amazing, I will let it slide. The only real problem I had was getting the cap off the bottle.  Make sure you have a good size bottle opener handy.

Taste:  When I finally managed to get the top of the bottle, I immediately noticed the familiar Monster Scent.  It smelled just like a green Monster.  Upon first drink, I was actually disappointed.  The drink doesn't taste bad but aside from a slightly different sweetness, this taste just like a green Monster.  I tried several times to try and pinpoint something different from the added malt base but it just wasn't there.

Does It Work:  Looking at the ingredients, I knew what to expect before drinking down Ubermonster.  Ubermonster is powered by (per bottle) 200 calories, 50 grams of sugar, several B vitamins, 2000 mg of taurine, 400 mg of panax ginseng, and 5000 mg of the "Monster Energy Blend".  After drinking down Ubermonster, I got a nice boost of energy that lasted around the 3 hour mark with a crash at the end.

Overall Thoughts:  Ubermonster, sadly enough, left me kind of disappointed.  The packaging is amazing and the kick is pretty good but I was just expecting a different flavor.
The bottom line here is this:  If you love to try new drinks, then give this a try.  The glass bottle will be popular among energy drink collectors but don't expect anything new in the flavor department.

I totally agree, disappointing. Not to mention they are damn near impossible to get into.

It also says on the back of it "the big ass cap is a little hard to pry off, but it's sorta like, if you can't open it you shouldn't be able to drink it!"

So it clearly let's you know its going to be a little tough!

I like it. To me its a little less carbonated in taste so it doesn't make my tummy hurt after drinking it down.

You are not near critical enough people. This is one of the biggest,if not the biggest, rip-offs Monster has ever made. For one it's cap is way too hard to open.I had three people have to try and help me get the bottle cap open which is honestly embarrassing. I shouldn't have to sit there as a consumer trying to pry open this big ass cap just to drink something. To be a smart ass with them on the back of the bottle I will also say no it means your drink is not worth a damn and you made it hard to open because the truth is your product sucks but you deep down don't want the person to know how ordinary the drink actually is.. Then I finally open it and what do I get? Green apple monster with a slightly sweeter taste and less carbonation. Then to top it all off, I had to pay 3 extra dollars just to buy the product when I could have bought there original product or in fact another product for significantly less and got the same buzz. My verdict? Absolutely never getting this again I basically paid more for the same crap and extra frustration. and if you are smart you wouldn't either. When I think about it this product as a whole gets a 2 out of 10 because Other then the decent taste of the drink I have little praise for it and I can't believe I wasted five bucks just to drink this damn bottle.

AT $4.99/Bottle ($4.49 on sale) it seemed like a ripoff. Even so I decided to give it a try and felt the energy kick in shortly after.

At that price I'll go back to the original Monster since it really didn't seem like a significant difference by comparison.

Someone is a little dramaqueen about her energy drinks. Monster doesn't care how bad you think it is or how disappointed you are in them for producing a shitty product. What Monster cares about is the fact that people like us are willing to pay twice as much for something new. I would guess this new drink lasts about long enough for everyone to try it once and then we won't see it anymore. But that's economics. Monster surely didn't mean to hurt your feelings on purpose.

If you search hard, there is a slight, and I mean slight, beer-like hint of taste. It is also slightly apparent in the smell.

I really liked the stuff, sorry you weren't as thrilled. Overall not quite worth the price, however.

Lol can you believe this guy ^

I liked the drink, it tasted very similar to the original with a smoother and slightly less sweeter taste. I willingly paid the five dollars for the drink, although it was more about the experience for me. I couldn't see myself buying another one but it was a nice one time treat kind of deal.

Tastes weird. Great bottle though and yea caps annoying I had to use a knife around the edges of the cap to pull it outward just so my bottle opener could get under the lip of the cap.... its tightened to much is my belief ... odd... finally got it off I'd say a little under 5 minutes.. tasted weird as well. Best monsters are assault and original green one

I just used a rag to twist the top off... It wasn't hard at all... And I got the drink super cheap at Big Lots for $1.75... So this is a bit melodramatic here
