Cold Beverage Technology

I was recently contacted by Cold Beverage Technology.  They wanted to get my opinion on the products that they offers.  Cold Beverage Technology produces fountain soda energy drinks as well as shots that can be added to your drinks.  I love the concept of being able to get a 44 oz energy drink in a styrofoam cup, now let's see how the drinks taste and how well they perform.

The Look:  The samples I was sent were in glass bottles so I won't be reviewing the packaging.  I did get to see some pictures of the way things look on the fountain soda machines, and they are direct and to the point.

Taste:  Reading on their website and talking to a member of the Cold Beverage Technology team I knew that this was going to resemble the taste of Red Bull.  I put a few of the glass bottles into the fridge the day after I received them to try out the next day.  When I first opened the bottle I noticed the carbonation level.  There is just the right amount of carbonation added.  I could smell the familiar energy drink smell as soon as the cap was off.  The vanilla seems to be a bit more prominent than other energy drinks.  Between just the right carbonation and the heavier vanilla, this drink comes together very nicely.  I was sent quite a few samples so I passed them out at work and other people liked it better than Red Bull as well.  Both the sugar free version and the regular version are very tasty and I would easily choose them over many other energy drinks if given the chance.  These were also tried out as mixers with alcohol and they performed very well.

I was also sent 4 different shots that can be mixed into the drink of your choice.  The 4 shots are:  energy, B12, a stat shot, and a defense shot.  The shots when mixed properly have absolutely no taste.

Does It Work:  These energy drinks are made to be weaker per ounce than your standard energy drink.  which makes a bunch of sense to me.  Usually at a gas station the cups range from 16 oz - 64 oz.  Most people are going to get a 32 oz drink or larger.  That is 4 servings of energy drinks which could be dangerous if they put the standard 80 mg of caffeine per 8 oz of drink that most companies do.  Instead  each 250 ml serving (approx 8 oz) is powered by 38 mg of caffeine, niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, 208 mg of taurine, inositol, and pantothenic acid.  The sugar free version contains 10 calories and 0 g of sugar; and the regular version contains 45 calories and 10 g of sugar per serving.

The energy shot contains 105 mg of caffeine per shot plus 30 mg of guarana.  You add one of the shots to the energy drink and you will be able to make a drink as powerful as you would like.  I tested out adding one of each shot inside the energy drinks and I was rewarded with a major energy rush.

Overall Thoughts: I absolutely love the concept of an energy drink on fountain.  If there was a gas station around me that sold the fountain energy drinks produced by Cold Beverage Technology then I would become a regular customer.  I honestly expect to see very big things from this company and you should keep your eye out for them in your area.  The Cold Beverage Technology energy lineup has earned the Caffeine A Holic Seal of Approval!
